406 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will accept the proposal of the Irish Medical Organisation that the boundaries of health boards be redesigned to ensure equality between each board in terms of demands and provisions. [1190/00]
While I am aware of proposals made by the IMO in relation to redesigning the boundaries of health boards, I have not seen any formal submission. The boundaries and responsibilities of health boards are kept under ongoing review as a matter of course, but changes would only be made where it was clear that benefit would accrue to members of the public and in terms of the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided.
