Question:430 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of consultant orthodontists in each health board area. [1214/00]
Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.
A consultant orthodontist is employed by each of the following health boards: Mid-Western Health Board; North-Eastern Health Board; North-Western Health Board; Southern Health Board; South-Eastern Health Board; and Western Health Board.
A consultant orthodontist employed by the Eastern Health Board is currently on suspension from duty. The Eastern Health Board is also making arrangements through the Local Appointments Commission for the recruitment of an additional two consultant orthodontists.
A consultant orthodontist is also employed at St. James's Hospital, Dublin.
Three consultant orthodontists are currently employed by the Dublin Dental Hospital and School. One consultant orthodontist is employed by Cork Dental School and Hospital.
