Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Willie Penrose

Question:

432 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the immediate steps he will take to ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath, who is awaiting a hip replacement operation for a considerable period of time, will have this procedure carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1217/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Westmeath is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
