Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pharmacy Services.

Pat Carey

Question:

443 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the inadequate cover provided by pharmacists in the Dublin area over the Christmas and New Year period when, at one stage, the only pharmacy open to the public on the northside was in O'Connell Street; if his attention has been drawn to the agreed code of practice between the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, the Pharmaceutical Union and the health board; if so, if he has satisfied himself that this code is sufficient to ensure that customer needs are satisfied; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1316/00]

The Eastern Health Board holds the community pharmacy contractor agreements in the Dublin area and I have referred the matter raised by the Deputy to the chief executive officer for a report. I will communicate further with the Deputy when I receive the report.
