Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rehabilitation Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

478 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on the need to develop a network of rehabilitation services in partnership with health boards and agencies to deal with disabled young people. [1859/00]

The development of rehabilitation services for young people with physical disabilities is under consideration by my Department as part of the ongoing development of services for people with physical and sensory disabilities, taking into account the report of the Review Group on Health and Personal Services to People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities, Towards an Independent Future and the report of the National Advisory Committee of Medical Rehabilitation.

The development of services in this sector is one of the commitments in Partnership 2000. This year £7 million, with a full-year cost of £14 million in 2001, has been provided for the development of services for people with physical and sensory disabilities.
