Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Driving Licence Certification.

Jack Wall

Question:

547 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will investigate the provision of a full driving licence to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1672/00]

: Under the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1989, this person would have had two years following the issuing of her certificate of competency in which to submit that certificate to the licensing authority in support of an application for a full driving licence. The person concerned did not submit the certificate until well beyond this date. I regret it is not possible to extend the period of validity of a certificate of competency.
