587 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress, if any, in relation to a grant application from Kilkenny Corporation under the remedial housing scheme which is ongoing in the Butts area and St. Joseph's Road, Kilkenny city. [1995/00]
Some £2.8 million has been made available to the corporation to date under my Department's remedial works scheme in respect of the refurbishment of the houses and environmental improvement works at this estate. These works are nearing completion.
The corporation was informed in October 1999 that its request for a financial contribution towards the cost of the extension and further development of a community centre at St. Joseph's Road could not be allowed as it did not come within the scope of the scheme.
