Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

764 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if the sports hall for Collinstown Park community college, Dublin 22, approved in February 1999 under a special interdepartmental initiative, will proceed to completion in view of the fact the availability of the tranche of EU funding under the URBAN initiative appears to be lost; if he will confirm the provision of substitute funding to ensure that, should the project be completed, it will be to the original specification; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1552/00]

Architectural planning for a sports hall at Collinstown Park community college is proceeding. This project is being funded by my Department, the Department of the Environment and the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs.

I understand that there are plans to develop ancillary facilities at the site of the proposed sports hall including the provision of an all weather playing pitch. My understanding is that funding for these latter plans is being made avail able under the URBAN initiative. However, my Department has no involvement in this matter.
