Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Waste Management.

John Gormley

Question:

118 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his views on incineration as a means of refuse management; and if he will make a statement in relation to the role, if any, he has in signing an order for the local authority permitting an incinerator in a local authority area. [1738/00]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 59 of 5 October 1999.

Pursuant to the Local Government (Planning and Development) (No 2) Regulations 1999 (S.I. No. 431 of 1999), and having regard to the integrated pollution control licensing responsibilities of the Environmental Protection Agency, I have no function in the development by a local authority of a waste management facility within its functional area.
