Vol. 513 No. 2

Written Answers. - Motor Vehicle Regulations.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

121 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the regulations controlling the weights of loads which trucks may carry will be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2129/00]

Weight limits for goods vehicles in national and international traffic are set out in the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963-98. An amendment to these regulations is being finalised to bring them into line with Directive 96/53/EC, which provides for increased limits for certain goods vehicles in international traffic.
