250 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands her instructions to the new board of Údarás na Gaeltachta; when the board will have its full complement of members; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2541/00]
No new directions as to general policy have as yet been given by the Minister to Údarás na Gaeltachta as she is empowered to do under section 14 of the Údarás na Gaeltachta (Amendment)(No. 2) Act, 1999. An tÚdarás is continuing to fulfil its brief which is to develop the Gaeltacht industrially and economically with a view to maintaining and promoting the Irish language therein.
As regards the appointment of the two remaining members to an tÚdarás I am hopeful that the Minister will make those appointments shortly.
