Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

Ivor Callely

Question:

16 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the supports, if any, available from his Department to assist Dublin Corporation in the preparatory and other work on the breaching of the causeway project at Dollymount, Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3585/00]

My Department has conveyed to Dublin Corporation approval for grant-aid for the study of the effects of breaching the Bull Island causeway, up to a maximum of £112,500 or 75% of the cost, whichever is the lesser. The approval is subject to the corporation indicating by 26 February its commitment to proceed with the study; the study being completed during 2000 and all the moneys expended; all public procurement requirements being adhered to; and the terms of reference and arrangements for oversight of the study being agreed with my Department.
