33 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when the national maritime college will be established as promised in the review of An Action Programme for the Millennium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3645/00]
As the Deputy may be aware, an expert interdepartmental working group was set up to examine the costings, financing and timing of the new maritime college, whose establishment is a commitment in the Government's An Action Programme for the Millennium, as reviewed in November 1999. I am advised that the group expects to complete its work very shortly. A fully developed and costed proposal for the construction of the college to the Government will then be presented to the Government.
