Vol. 514 No. 2

Written Answers. - Job Creation.

Michael Ring

Question:

109 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason a venture for a Gaeltacht factory in Bunnacurry, Achill, County Mayo, is not proceeding, having regard for the jobs announcement made. [3801/00]

I understand from Údarás na Gaeltachta that the company in question distributed a large number of information leaflets in the Achill area regarding posts it might have available there and that it organised interviews for those persons who expressed an interest in the posts. The company decided, after considering the results of the interviews, that a sufficient number of staff was not available to establish a new centre on Achill.

An túdarás will continue in its endeavours to provide suitable employment opportunities for the area.
