Vol. 514 No. 3

Written Answers. - Live Register.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

270 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kildare has been refused the right to sign on the unemployment register in spite of the fact she is still on a three day week and seeking full-time employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3944/00]

The person concerned was in receipt of unemployment assistance to June 1999. Following a review of her case her claim was disallowed on the grounds that she was not available for and not genuinely seeking full-time work. No appeal was made in this case.

A person who is considered unavailable for work is not entitled to sign the live register.
