Vol. 514 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Seán Power

Question:

195 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education and Science if the position of resource teacher will be made permanent at Scoil Mhuire, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4747/00]

The level of resource teacher support made available to any school is determined by the assessed level of need of pupils attending the school. An allocation of 18 hours resource teacher support per week was made to the school in question on this basis.

However, the school has now applied to my Department for an increased level of resource teacher support to enable it to cater for a further pupil with special needs enrolled at the school.
The school's application is currently being investigated by my Department's inspectorate and the school authorities will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
