Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science the position on a request from a school (details supplied) in Dublin 11 for a security fence at the front of the school; if approval has been given; if design work is in progress; and when planning permission will be sought and work carried out. An application from the school in question is being dealt with as quickly as possible by my Department having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand with my Department.

Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to a request submitted and an inspection carried out a few years ago for expansion and refurbishment of Glasnevin national school; when approval will be given; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The planning and building unit of my Department will shortly be making arrangements for the appointment of a design team to undertake the necessary architectural planning of a building project at the school.
