Financial agreements have been reached in relation to the disposal of Castleblayney and Fermoy Barracks and the legal formalities require to be completed. The receipt of income will follow completion of the sales agreements To date 79 occupants in Orchard Park, Curragh Camp have indicated their intention to purchase the houses offered to them. The sales agreements will be completed as soon as possible following which the moneys from the sales will be realised.
Plans for the disposal of the remaining barracks at Ballincollig, Naas, Kildare and Clancy Barracks, Dublin are at an advanced stage and it is hoped to have these sales completed during 2000.
129 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Defence the discussions, if any, he will have with the relevant authorities for the parking of heavy goods vehicles in barracks for a standard fee in conjunction with the imminent city-wide ban on these vehicles in residential areas of Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am not aware of any proposals in this regard. However the question of using existing barracks for the purposes as outlined would not be considered feasible or desirable.

There are no plans to alter the status of the military posts at Lifford, Rockhill and Finner, County Donegal.
