176 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a decision has been made by his Department to allow persons already in receipt of EU farm retirement scheme pensions to transfer to the new scheme recently announced; and if he will consider the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [5192/00]
The person named applied and was approved for a pension under the scheme of early retirement from farming as implemented by EU Council Regulation 2079/92. A new scheme has been submitted to the EU Commission as part of my Department's draft rural development plan for the period 2000 to 2006. There are no proposals to enable participants in the existing scheme to transfer to the new scheme.
