Vol. 514 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Gormley

Question:

247 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of civil servants appointed by him and his Ministers of State to look after constituency matters; the costs involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5108/00]

There are five civil servants – two job-sharing – assigned to deal with constituency matters. In addition, there are two non-established staff employed on a contract basis, one of whom is a personal assistant and the other is a personal secretary.

The estimated salary costs this year, including the proposed increases provided for in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, is approximately £140,000, including overtime payments.

There is no Minister of State at the Department.
