288 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the amount paid in compensation claims by his Department in 1999; and the headings under which payments were made. [5242/00]

In the short time available from the time the Deputy asked the question to the date for answer, my Department has calculated the following information on compensation claims made against it:
