Vol. 514 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teachers' Salaries.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

307 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question Nos. 122 and 124 of 31 March 1999, the reason the issue of incremental credit for teaching service abroad remains unresolved in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; the position in relation to this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4984/00]

On 13 April 1999 my Department issued its decision in relation to the claim for incremental credit submitted by the person in question in respect of his teaching service abroad. He was awarded incremental credit in accordance with the terms of current agreed reports of the teachers' conciliation council. His salary was adjusted and all arrears due were paid in the salary issue of 31 May 1999.

There are ongoing discussions at the teachers' conciliation council in relation to the award of incremental credit to teachers. In the event of revised conditions for the award of incremental credit that would benefit the person concerned being agreed, his case will be reviewed by my Department.
