Vol. 514 No. 6

Written Answers. - Industrial Relations.

David Stanton

Question:

118 Mr. Stanton asked the Taoiseach the number of working days lost in the public and private sectors due to industrial disputes in 1999; the number of workers involved; the number of agencies or firms involved; the figures for 1997 and 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5243/00]

The CSO's statistics on industrial disputes provide a detailed sectoral breakdown but do not distinguish whether the dispute was in the public or private sector. The latest information available is in respect of the third quarter of 1999. The following table sets out the main statistics on industrial disputes in each sector in 1997, 1998 and between January and September 1999.
