172 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of orthopaedic surgeons attached to the hospitals (details supplied); his views on whether this number is adequate to meet the demands at the hospitals; if not, the criteria he is putting in place to rectify the problems; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The staffing of health boards and voluntary hospitals is a matter for local management in the first instance. However the number of ortho paedic surgeons attached to each of the hospitals is as follows:
