Vol. 515 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Recruitment.

Jim Higgins

Question:

199 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if contracts being offered to gardaí who have completed their training in Templemore have been or are to be altered; and, if so, if he will give details in this regard. [5464/00]

Admission to the Garda Síochána is a matter for the Garda Commissioner and is governed by the Garda Síochána (Admissions and Appointments) Regulations, 1988, as amended. There is no provision in the regulations to offer contracts of employment to gardaí on completion of their training.
