Vol. 515 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

37 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the Government's proposals on decentralisation; the proposals, if any, implemented; and if Navan, County Meath, will be considered. [2954/00]

Following the announcement in my Budget Statement that the time has come to start a further round of decentralisations, I have been preparing proposals which I intend to present to my Government colleagues shortly. Until the matter has been considered by the Government, no decisions will be taken about the Departments-offices which will feature in the forthcoming programme nor in relation to the centres to which they will be relocated. I am not, therefore, in a position to comment on the likelihood of Navan, or indeed any other particular centre, being included in the new programme.
