Vol. 515 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

171 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science if grants applied for by a school (details supplied) in County Donegal will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6403/00]

My Department has received correspondence from the school referred to by the Deputy and a reply will issue to the school in the near future.

The school's query is in connection with the science and infant grants that issued to schools in the first term of the 1999-2000 school year. Grants for the purchase of science materials ranged from a minimum of £400 to a maximum of £1,000 while grants in relation to infant materials ranged from a minimum of £300 to a maximum of £2,000.

The school referred to by the Deputy was not included in the original grants issue as the pro gramme developed for the payment of the grants was based on school enrolments in September 1998, at which stage this school was not in existence. However, I can confirm that arrangements for the payments of these grants to the school are now being made and the grants should be received by it in the near future.
