Vol. 515 No. 5

Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Noel Ahern

Question:

108 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science the new procedures for taking into consideration, in correcting examination papers for junior and leaving certificates, the fact that a student is dyslexic; if the certificate is endorsed to this effect; if his attention has been drawn to the shock and disgust of parents at this decision which parents see as tagging children for life; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6526/00]

I assure the Deputy that no reference to the fact that a candidate is dyslexic or has any other special need will appear on the leaving or junior certificates.
