Vol. 515 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Gallery.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

36 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when works will be completed on the extension to the National Gallery of Ireland; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6425/00]

The building contract for this extension is between the board of the National Gallery of Ireland and the contractor employed for the project.

The Office of Public Works is also involved as agent for the board of the National Gallery of Ireland and the relevant professionals, in respect of the contracts for professional services. My Department therefore has no direct responsibility for the building works in question, but I am advised that completion by mid-2001 is envisaged.
