I propose to take Questions Nos. 74 to 78, inclusive, together.

Details of the 76 water and sewerage schemes included in the first tranche of the serviced land initiative are contained in the water and sewerage services investment programme annual report 1999 copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. Details of additional schemes approved since then will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible. The initiative was introduced in 1998 with a target of 100,000 sites and a budget of £39 million over the three years 1998, to 2000. Coupled with local authorities income from development levies, this funding will mobilize total spending to the value of almost £100 million. A total of £2.3 million was recouped to local authorities for schemes in progress to the end of 1999. From local authority returns, to date 25 schemes with 9006 sites have been completed, 43 schemes with 24, 931 sites are at construction, and a further 76 schemes with 70,159 sites are scheduled to get to construction this year. In January 2000, local authorities were invited to submit additional new proposals for consideration under the initiative in areas where there is a genuine requirement for additional housing development.
