My Department has not received such a request from Kildare County Council.

Question:

80 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has responded to Kildare County Council's financial requirements in respect of road and bridge realignment at Bond Bridge, Maynooth, County Kildare; if the necessary funds are available to the local authority to facilitate the immediate implementation of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6503/00]

In April, 1998 my Department approved Kildare County Council's proposal to raise a loan of £1.5 million to fund a reconstruction project on Bond Bridge. Further promotion of this project is a matter for the council. I understand it has advanced the design of the project and that it will shortly be the subject of public consultation before going to tender.
