Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ulick Burke

Question:

130 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Galway will be paid a grant under the headage scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6883/00]

(Mr. Walsh): A condition for eligibility under the livestock headage schemes is that an applicant must have submitted a valid area aid application form for the relevant year. An area aid application was received from the person concerned after the closing date and consequently a 100% penalty was applied. However, a request in February 2000 to have the case considered asforce majeure on medical grounds was accepted. Arrangements are now being made with the local livestock office to issue the outstanding headage payments. Payments should issue within the next three weeks.

Question:

131 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will provide grant assistance to a mart (details supplied) in County Galway to complete its relocation from the town centre to its new location; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6884/00]

The mart in question has already received a total of £606,000 towards the cost of relocation to a new site under the Feoga grant aid scheme for the processing and marketing of agricultural products. The Feoga scheme was one of the measures contained in the food sub-programme 1994-99. Committals under this sub-programme have been completed.

The livestock marts sector will be eligible for support under a food-related initiative of the National Development Plan 2000-2006. In accordance with the plan, the detailed rules relating to this initiative will be set out in the operational programme and programming complement for the productive sector, which are in the course of preparation.

Michael Creed

Question:

132 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid a REP scheme grant. [6915/00]

The person named applied for a second year REPS payment on 31 January 2000. The application was subject to a pre-payment compliance inspection, which took place on 14 February 2000. Full payment issued on 28 February 2000.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

133 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position in relation to an area aid application for cattle for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6916/00]

The person named submitted an area aid application, which included a parcel of land in respect of which a dual claim has been determined. Both herd owners were written to, with a view to resolving the problem. Both herdowners have now responded, with both claiming the right to the dual claimed parcel.

While the person named submitted documents to support his claim, the other person concerned did not. Consequently, the other herdowner has again been contacted requesting him to forward legal proof of his claim. If a conclusive response is not received from this other herdowner within two weeks, the parcel of land will be credited to the person named.

Michael Creed

Question:

134 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid full suckler cow and cattle headage grants, payment of which is being withheld due to an area aid difficulty which is now resolved. [6917/00]

The person named included two plots of land in his 1999 area aid application, but did not supply the maps necessary to process the application. The area aid unit issued maps to him to enable him to outline the boundaries of land claimed by him and following his response the details are now entered on the Department's electronic database.

Any outstanding payments will issue shortly.
