Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Paul McGrath

Question:

202 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a request was received from Westmeath County Council for approval to appoint consultants to design a sewerage scheme and surface water plan for Robinstown, Mullingar, County Westmeath; if so, the date in this regard; and when approval for this necessary funding will be given. [6584/00]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 270 of 7 December 1999. In the meantime Westmeath County Council has submitted an assessment of needs for capital water and sewerage works but has not prioritised individual schemes as required. The Mullingar sewerage improvement scheme is included in the list of schemes proposed by the Council. This list will be taken into account in the framing of the water services investment programme for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006 but without the benefit of the council having identified its priorities.
