Question:257 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the building of a new Garda station at Thomastown in County Kilkenny will commence. [6958/00]

It is proposed to build a new district headquarters station at the location in question. The Office of Public Works has prepared a sketch scheme which is being considered by Garda management.
It is not possible to say at this stage when work will commence as this is dependent on overall priorities and the availability of finance.
