303 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has satisfied himself with the staffing levels in the planning and building unit of his Department in Tullamore, County Offaly, in view of the continuing lengthy delays in progressing various building projects particularly in Clondalkin, Dublin 22. [7009/00]
Additional staff will be deployed in the planning and building unit in the near future as part of an overall planned increase in the staffing of my Department.
The additional staff are required to cope with the substantial increase in the volume and complexity of work arising from the additional funding and policy initiatives which have been put in place for the building of schools and colleges. I expect that the extra staff will help to reduce backlogs and lead-in times and I will keep the situation under review.
