Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fireworks Importation.

Ivor Callely

Question:

36 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 93 of 2 February 2000 on the use of 9.5 tonnes of fireworks in organised displays, he will review the Explosives Act, 1875, with a view to relaxing the policy for permits and associated conditions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6689/00]

I have no plans at present to amend the Explosives Act, 1875 or to relax the current general policy of only allowing the authorisation of the importation of fireworks for organised displays conducted by professional operators.
