Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Crime Statistics.

Austin Deasy

52 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the evidence, if any, of a significant amount of serious crime being committed or promoted by gangs of illegal immigrants; if there is liaison with Interpol regarding the movement and activities of these gangs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6805/00]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that statistics are not kept on the basis of nationality, therefore, the required information is not available. If appropriate, assistance is sought from Interpol in any criminal case where foreign nationals are involved.
