Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Electricity Generation.

Willie Penrose

Question:

95 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if the ESB is installing generating facilities at Tarmonbarry, County Longford; if so, the cost in this regard; the amount of this expenditure which will derive from EU funding; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6554/00]

I have no proposals from the ESB for capital expenditure approval in relation to the installation of generating facilities at Tarmonbarry, County Longford.

The question of granting an authorisation for the construction of any new generating station, by the ESB or any independent power producer in the liberalised electricity market, is now a function of the Commission for Electricity Regulation.
