Written Answers. - Air Services.

Donal Carey

Question:

98 Mr. D. Carey asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has received a request from the chairman of Clare County Council for a meeting to discuss the strategic options for the future of Aer Rianta as prepared by consultants (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the timescale involved in the implementation of the consultants' recommendations. [6712/00]

I recently received a letter from the chairman of Clare County Council seeking a meeting with Aer Rianta and a meeting with myself. I forwarded the council's request to the chief executive of the company asking him to arrange such a meeting and I further indicated that I, also, would be happy to meet the council.

As regards the Warburg Dillon Read report, the Deputy will be aware that the report was made public and I submitted it to Government on 1 February last. I am continuing to give careful consideration to the consultants' findings and recommendations and will bring my specific proposals on the matter to Government as soon as possible.
