Some 39 annual passenger licences have been granted for private bus services in the greater Dublin area under the Road Transport Act, 1932, of which 28 licences are currently valid. The first licence was granted in November 1991 and the latest licence to be granted was in November 1999.
A range of services is being provided by the buses currently licenced, for example, tours, school services and commuter services on a number of different routes within the greater Dublin area. The following table gives details of the routes in question.
There are also a number of occasional passenger licences held by private bus operators to provide services within the greater Dublin area. These are licences which allow the operator only to provide a service on one or more specified occasions.
