153 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has for the extension of facilities to service 250 adult students in Monaghan town; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7350/00]

154 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has for further development of Beech Hill College, Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7351/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 153 and 154 together.

County Monaghan VEC has been in contact with the planning and building unit of my Department regarding the provision of accommodation for 200 PLC students. The VEC has been requested to consider the feasibility of siting this PLC accommodation on the grounds of Beech Hill College.

155 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science when work will start on the extension to the community college, Ballybay, County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7352/00]

The planning and building unit of my Department has recently sanctioned the appointment of a design team for this project. Architectural planning will then commence.

I cannot say at this juncture when construction of this project will commence. I will keep the Deputy informed of developments.

156 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the provision of extra facilities at Rathmore national school, Naas, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7353/00]

As I indicated in a previous parliamentary question on 8 February, architectural planning for the facilities in question is under way at present. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence.

157 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the provision of permanent facilities, equipment and accommodation at Scoil Uí Riada, Kilcock, County Kildare; the progress achieved in this regard in the past 12 months; the extent to which it is expected to conclude matters in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in a previous parliamentary question on 9 February, architectural planning for the project in question is currently under way. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence.

158 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in respect of the extra facilities required at Scoil Ignáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare; the number of places provided for in the context of these proposals; the number of places required based on current projections; the plans, if any, he has to meet these requirements at an early date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in a previous parliamentary question on 15 February, the school has been authorised to appoint a design team in respect of the application for an extension.

Thereafter, the application will progress through the stages of architectural planning. It is not possible at this juncture to be specific as to the length of time involved.

The project is being processed on the basis of an enrolment of 800 students.

159 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the date by which it is expected to meet the request for the provision of extra facilities at Confey College, Leixlip, County Kildare; if the facilities proposed are sufficient to meet requirements based on current projections; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in a previous parliamentary question on 8 February, County Kildare VEC has been advised that it may proceed to tender for the provision of an extension at Confey College.

160 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the timescale for the provision of the extra facilities required at St. Mary's College, Naas, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7357/00]

As I indicated in a previous parliamentary question on 8 February, approval to proceed to construction, subject to a number of conditions, was given to the managerial authorities of St. Mary's College, Naas, in January of this year.

161 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress, if any, made regarding the provision of the extra facilities required at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare; the achievements in this regard in the past 12 months; the anticipated achievements in the near future relative to the conclusion of matters preparatory to meeting the requirements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. This project has been progressing through architectural planning over the past twelve months. The school authorities have recently been advised to arrange to upgrade the mechanical and electrical services in the existing school during the summer holiday period this year. Planning for an extension to the school is continuing. I cannot say at this juncture when construction will commence or be completed.

162 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the ongoing progress relative to the provision of extra facilities required at Maynooth post primary school, Maynooth, County Kildare; the extent to which matters will be finalised in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in a previous parliamentary question on 15 February, this application was initially being processed on the basis of a likely enrolment of 800 pupils. However, County Kildare VEC has requested that my Department consider providing for increased enrolment of 900 pupils.

Following that consideration the application will progress through the stages of architectural planning. It is not possible at this juncture to be specific as to the length of time involved.

163 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress to date in relation to the provision of a permanent site and accommodation at Scoil Uí Fhiaich, Maynooth, County Kildare; the progress of this project in the past six months; the extent to which these matters will be concluded in the foreseeable future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department's technical staff are assessing the situation regarding the accommodation needs of the school in question. The school authorities will be informed of the position as soon as possible having regard to the large num ber of school building projects on hand within my Department.

164 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the provision of permanent accommodation for the North Kildare School Project at Celbridge, County Kildare; the progress in relation to this matter in the past 12 months; the anticipated progress in the foreseeable future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The position is that architectural planning for the project in question is currently under way. The question of the acquisition of a site is being taken up with Kildare County Council.
