Question:

224 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the amount paid in compensation claims by his Department in 1999; and the heading under which payments were made. [8899/00]

The sum of £9,000 was paid in respect of special and general damages which included an element for personal injuries as a result of a motor accident involving a Department vehicle.
