Vol. 516 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Question:

259 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance if a tax refund will issue to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 given the financial urgency in this case. [8879/00]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has contacted the taxpayer's employer and has advised the employer as to the taxpayer's correct tax-free allowances. The employer will operate the revised tax-free allowances with effect from the taxpayer's next pay day and will refund any overpaid income tax on that date.
