Vol. 516 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Michael Finucane

Question:

282 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 307 of 8 February 2000 in relation to a tonsillectomy operation, when the chief executive of the Mid-Western Health Board will respond to the case involved. [8886/00]

I understand from the Mid-Western Health Board that the person referred to by the Deputy had her tonsillectomy on 13 March 2000, and was discharged on 14 March 2000. I am advised that the Mid-Western Health Board has now also provided this information directly to the Deputy.

Question:

283 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will have their tonsils removed in view of the great pain she is in; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8888/00]

The responsibility for the provision of service at St. James's Hospital is now a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have, therefore, asked the regional chief executive officer to investigate the issue raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to her.
