Vol. 516 No. 6

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Orders.

John Perry

Question:

323 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has made a decision on the report on the mid block route in Sligo; if not, when a decision will be made in view of the fact that the lack of progress on the report is holding up developments in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8965/00]

Sligo Corporation and Sligo County Council have submitted compulsory purchase orders for the acquisition of land for the N4 Sligo inner relief route and N4 Sligo inner relief route county extension, respectively and have applied for approval on environmental grounds. A public local inquiry into objections received by me against confirmation of the compulsory purchase orders and into the propriety of confirming the orders in so far as they relate to the extinguishment of public rights-of-way was held and evidence in relation to the likely effects on the environment was heard. The report of the inspector who held the inquiry has recently been furnished and decisions will be given in due course.
