The provision of services to people with physical and sensory disabilities is the responsibility of the health boards in the first instance. Details of the precise services to be put in place in each region, and the individuals who will benefit from these services, are agreed by the regional co-ordinating committees for physical and sensory disability services, in line with the priority needs which have been identified in each region.
These co-ordinating committees are representative of the health boards, voluntary agencies providing services to people with physical and sensory disabilities, and service users. The function of the committees is to identify priorities for service development and to co-ordinate the provision of services, including additional developments, as resources become available.
I am, of course, aware of the issues raised by the Deputy facing this particular organisation. I have already brought them to the attention of the Southern Health Board so that an amicable solution is reached.
