Vol. 517 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Trips.

John Bruton

Question:

203 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the consideration, if any, given to the increasing cost of school trips to foreign countries organised in second level schools in view of the fact that not all families may be able to take part in these trips and invidious comparisons may be made within class groups as a result. [7753/00]

It is a matter for the management authority of each school to decide its policy concerning school trips.

It is desirable that in drawing up school policy in this area there is prior consultation by the school with teachers, parents and students, where appropriate, so that circumstances identified by the Deputy can be catered for.
