Vol. 517 No. 1

Written Answers. - Electricity Generation.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

73 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise her preferred options for power generation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9141/00]

In the liberalised electricity industry, market participants will decide whether, when, what type and where they wish to build generating stations and then seek the necessary permissions from the relevant bodies, including the Commission for Electricity Regulation, planning authorities and the Environmental Protection Agency. I have no direct function in relation to these matters.
