Vol. 517 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teleworking Scheme.

John Bruton

Question:

108 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise when she will introduce teleworking operations into the mainstream public service employments under her aegis in accordance with the commitment given by the Government in its Programme for Prosperity and Fairness; and if she will make a statement on the changes required in each of the agencies under her aegis to fulfil this commitment by the Government. [9278/00]

The partnership committee of my Department is moving ahead quickly to see how the Government's commitment to introduce teleworking options into my Department under Article 4.4 of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness can in practice be best implemented. I expect a report on the matter very shortly. The report will be a first step in drawing up a teleworking strategy for my Department. The fulfilment of the commitment to develop a teleworking policy for implementation by 2002 under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness will now be pursued by State agencies under my aegis.
