Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

112 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the steps, if any, she will take to alleviate the hardship and inconvenience to commuters arising from the threatened bus strike; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9330/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 111 and 112 together.

I express my sincere regret to all bus users who have been seriously inconvenienced by the bus strike. I thank the Garda and the office of the Director of Traffic for their efforts to keep traffic flowing, and road users for their patience.

I have not made a decision on the provision of alternative means of transport for bus users in the event of the further escalation of the bus dispute. However, I am keeping the matter under review.
